Mat etiquette

We train hard and keep ego off the mats. These expectations keep everyone safer, healthier, and training better together. When in doubt—ask any coach before class begins.

  • Be respectful, positive, and have fun: No drama, bad attitudes, or egos on the mats.
  • No food, drink, or gum on the mats
  • No shoes or sandals on the mats: Wear shoes when off the training floor; keep feet clean before training.
  • No jewelry: Including rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, watches, and other accessories.
  • Bow when entering or leaving the mats
  • Good personal hygiene: Keep nails trimmed; shower after training to help prevent skin infections.
  • Be on time: Arrive early enough to be ready when class starts.
  • Warm up and train smart: Stretch and prepare with the class as directed; take time off when you are sick, injured, or in significant pain—work with coaches on return-to-train timing.
  • Clean up: Pick up after yourself and your children.
  • Parents do not coach kids from the sidelines: Cheer respectfully; coaching comes from academy staff on the floor.

You must also complete our liability waiver before training; most guests finalize this with staff on arrival.
